ABOUT RACHEL NEVILLE, DANCE AND MOVEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
Dancer
Rachel Neville is a dance and movement photographer.  So much of her perspective on lines, shapes, storytelling and ability to coach dancers and bring out the best in all her clients comes from her dance background. A former dancer, Rachel trained in Toronto, Canada and moved to Europe at 18 to pursue her career. Two years later, she sustained a knee injury that brought her home and, a little while later, her life purpose came into focus as she started photography studies. Having earned a certificate through the RAD, Rachel began teaching ballet in order to pay her way through photography school as she couldn’t put her parents through another round of very costly schooling. Upon graduating at the top of her class from Humber College in 2000, Rachel launched her new career by working in weddings and portraits, followed by table top commercial photography. Rachel and her husband David, a stills photographer in the television and movie industry, moved to NYC in 2006 and in 2008, Rachel fully settled into her true passion: dance and movement photography. Their daughters Oriane and Cadence were born in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and in 2014, Rachel realized her dream of building her own studio specifically designed to shoot dance and movement, complete with a sprung floor for her dancers to work on. Along with always looking for new ways to help her clients, Rachel currently has several personal storytelling-based imagery projects that she can’t wait to share.
