Nicole Arakaki (she/her) is a freelance artist from the New Jersey/New York area. She recently collaborated on an original evening-length dance installation, The Stranger, which delves into the stories regarding immigration across generations and the experiences of the lead artist, collaborators, and community cast. She has also made her off-Broadway debut performing the principal role, Pinocchio, in the dance theatre adaptation of Pinocchio, presented by NYCCT. Dance was first introduced to her when she was around four years old, and she has since fallen in love with it, eventually earning her Bachelor of Arts in Dance, with a concentration in Dance Education (K-12). She has been fortunate enough to have performed pieces by brilliant artists such as Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Stefanie Batten Bland, Charles Weidman, Stephanie Klemons, Carolyn Dorfman, Janice Rosario, Randy James, among other esteemed choreographers. Nicole has also had the privilege of performing on various stages throughout the Tri-State area, including Montclair’s Alexander Kasser Theater, the Gramercy Theater, Theatre Row, La MaMa, and the MMAC Theater in New York. Currently, she dances with the HT Chen Dance Company and The Moving Architects.
