Michaela Esteban (she/her) is a Filipina-American Brooklyn-based freelance dance artist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she performed works by Shannon Gillen, Jawolle Willa Jo Zollar, Ohad Naharin, Alex Springer and Xan Burley, and Doris Humphrey, among others. Upon graduation, Michaela spent a season as a performing apprentice with GroundWorks Dance Theater, working with Brian Brooks, Amy Miller, Antonio Brown, and David Shimotakahara. Since then, she has had the pleasure of dancing with the Wilder Project and Sonia Plumb Dance Company. Her own work has been presented in venues throughout Southeast Michigan for the U-M Dance Department’s First Year Touring Company, Cuernavaca, Mexico, and Cleveland, Ohio for GroundWork’s ChoreoLab. Michaela currently collaborates with little house dance company and GREYZONE, and is thrilled to be joining The Moving Architects this season.
