Anna Hooper was raised in Vancouver, Washington, and studied dance at Northwest Dance Project, Bodyvox, and the Jefferson Dancers before attending the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. With Purchase Dance Company she performed works by Kyle Abraham, Sidra Bell, Merce Cunningham, Keerati Jinakunwiphat, and Jonathan Reidel. In addition to performing, Anna has choreographed numerous original works including an evening length play on actors at Purchase College alongside Jonathan McCrory, Director of the National Black Theatre. Upon graduating in 2018 with a BFA in dance and a minor in psychology, she performed work by Emily Kessler at the Austin Dance Festival. Now residing in New York City, Anna is proud to have assisted Kyle Abraham on his New York City Ballet commission, meanwhile studying and performing the work of Merce Cunningham through the Merce Cunningham Dance Trust.
